When Control arrived in 2019, it established itself as one of the most distinctive action adventures of its generation. Remedy Entertainment blended brutalist architecture, cosmic horror, telekinetic combat and psychological storytelling into something that felt completely unique. It was strange, often unsettling and frequently brilliant. Ever since players first uncovered the mysteries of the Federal Bureau of Control, there has been speculation about where the series could go next.

With Control Resonant, Remedy appears ready to answer that question in spectacular fashion. Rather than simply revisiting familiar territory, the studio is shifting its focus to Dylan Faden, Jesse’s troubled brother, while simultaneously expanding the scope of the universe beyond the confines of the Oldest House. Based on everything revealed so far, Control Resonant has the potential to be both a natural continuation of the franchise and a bold reinvention of its core ideas.

Dylan Finally Takes Centre Stage

Perhaps the most fascinating aspect of Control Resonant is its choice of protagonist. Dylan Faden was one of the original game’s most intriguing figures. Gravity anomalies alter movement and combat encounters in unpredictable ways. The city itself seems to have become another victim of the ongoing crisis.

This expanded scope could dramatically change the feeling of exploration. The original game excelled at creating mystery within enclosed spaces. Resonant appears poised to bring that same sense of discovery to much larger environments while maintaining the franchise’s trademark atmosphere.

The Paranatural Arsenal Evolves

Combat was one of Control’s greatest strengths, and Remedy appears determined to build upon that foundation. The standout addition is the Aberrant, a shape-shifting melee weapon capable of transforming between multiple combat forms.
