Ghetto Zombies: Graffiti Squad is a wonderfully daft zombie shooter packed with mutant heroes, ridiculous weapons, colourful graffiti and some of the strangest undead creatures you are likely to encounter. Its repetitive objectives and occasional reload frustrations hold it back from greatness, but the vibrant presentation, satisfying shooting and infectious sense of humour make it a thoroughly enjoyable, retro-inspired blast.

Ground Zero Hero throws bullet-hell survival, roguelite progression and mutation madness into a radioactive blender, creating a chaotic, surprisingly addictive apocalypse in which every enemy defeated brings you one step closer to becoming the ultimate wasteland monster.

Yet Another Zombie Survivors takes the familiar horde-survival formula and gives it a welcome squad-based twist. Its automatic combat keeps the controls accessible, while deep character combinations and permanent progression provide plenty of reasons to return for another run.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Cost of Hope expands the Zone with an engrossing new story, dangerous new territories, and the long-awaited opportunity to explore the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant. Its renewed faction conflict, unforgiving survival mechanics, and oppressive atmosphere make returning to the Zone genuinely exciting, while the new locations offer plenty of opportunities for danger and discovery.

DayZ: Cool Edition turns survival into storytelling, giving players the freedom to craft their own adventures across ruined cities, dense forests and frozen wilderness. Brutal, unpredictable and occasionally maddening, it rewards patience, observation and a willingness to take risks. When everything goes right, few survival games can match the satisfaction of simply being alive.

Dead Age 2 turns the zombie apocalypse into a desperate battle for survival, blending tactical combat, base management, faction politics and roguelite progression into a surprisingly deep RPG. It may stumble occasionally, but when its many systems click, surviving another day has rarely felt so satisfying.

Gears of War: E-Day isn't trying to reinvent one of gaming's greatest shooters. Instead, it looks set to remind players why the original captured their imaginations. By returning to Emergence Day, embracing horror once again, and putting Marcus and Dom at the heart of the story, The Coalition may finally have the Gears sequel fans have been waiting for.

Apocalypse? No! delivers an accessible post-apocalyptic adventure filled with exploration, creature battles and forty quests to complete alongside a faithful canine companion. While its mechanics remain fairly simple, its welcoming world and steady progression make it an enjoyable survival outing for players seeking a lighter take on the end of the world.
